a murder of gods
Jun. 4th, 2017 11:03 pmAmerican Gods, I'm sorry that we've been fighting, and I want you to know that I accept your apology and am so happy you've decided to commit to our relationship.
"A Murder of Gods" is my favorite episode so far. Spoilers ahead.
Damn, this episode was a brutal takedown of America's current political climate. It was unflinching and raw and the most fearless television I have seen in a long time.
Wednesday holding Shadow as he pulled the roots from his stomach, holding Shadow to keep him upright while he was crippled with pain was really intense. I have a lot of feelings about it--it hurt, but it was also unexpectedly tender, and I... ugh, Shadow, I have so many feelings about you, why don't you run, you stupid fuck?
I loved Laura and Mad Sweeney in "Lemon Scented You," and I loved them even more this week. And I almost screamed when Salim-Not-Salim came onscreen. Yessssssssss I need more of his story, and I need more of the Jinn and them together, and he is the perfect counterweight to Laura and Mad Sweeney's horn locking. Uggggghhhhhh I like him so much, and Laura and Mad Sweeney, and the scene where Salim-Not-Salim stops for this quiet, reverent moment of prayer is such a gorgeous flipside to the loud, self-satisfied, bloody gun cult most of the episode dealt with. I am so, so psyched to see more of their little road trip.
Shadow puts up with A LOT, but I would have gotten the fuck out of there once they got to Vulcan's place. What the fuck. (Though they stuffed so much foreshadowy goodness into Vulcan's conversation with Wednesday! I got chills.) And Shadow's fucking face in the background when Wednesday slices off Vulcan's head with the sword he just forged him is literal perfection, omfg.
More more give me mooooooore
