The heart monitor’s cadence was the night’s constant soundtrack. Ray tried to find a comfortable position in the chair beside the bed, but was unable. Sleep was similarly elusive.
A creaking voice. “You awake?”
Ray forced his aching body into a sitting position. “Yeah.”
“Hey,” Crow Horse said.
“Hey.”
Crow Horse studied him for a long moment, his eyes gleaming in the dark. “You mad?”
Ray flushed. “To think of all the years I’ve been after you to eat better, and get more exercise—”
Crow Horse sighed and leaned back into his pillows. “That’s a yes.”
“—and take your blood pressure pill, and mind your sugar—”
“Hey, now. My sugar’s got nothing to do with a heart attack.”
Ray didn’t say anything, so Crow Horse fooled with his IV line a bit, just to get Ray to talk.
“Leave it alone,” Ray said, “or I’ll call the doctor.”
“Hell, no doctor can yell at me the way you can, honey.”
Ray frowned. Crow Horse reached out for his hand. Ray took it, gave it a squeeze.
“You scared the shit out of me,” Ray said.
“Sorry.”
“No. Shit, I’m sorry. What I meant was, I love you.”

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. And I'm glad, selfishly, that you're addicted. Thunderheart fandom needs more kickass writers like you representing!

Date: 2012-01-18 04:07 am (UTC)I really, really want to write some more Thunderheart fic, I just need some prompts! *clutches face*

Date: 2012-01-18 04:16 am (UTC)You're welcome to go prompt fishing at
Okay, here we are (also included: my Top Gun prompts, because what the hell):
Thunderheart Ray/Crow Horse undercover
Thunderheart Maggie homecoming
Thunderheart Ray/Crow Horse speechless
Thunderheart Ray/Crow Horse meeting the in-laws
Thunderheart Ray/Crow Horse Crow Horse gives Ray Lakota lessons, with an unconventional reward system.
Thunderheart Ray/Crow Horse cheating (at a game, not on each other)
Top Gun Iceman/Maverick Ice has a smart mouth. Maverick has a solution.
Top Gun Iceman/Maverick sunburn
Top Gun Iceman/Slider battle scars
Um, I also had kind of an not-completely-ripe-yet thought the other day about a 5 things fic, like, "Five Things Crow Horse Learned About Ray the First Winter." Or something. IDK.

Date: 2012-01-18 04:26 am (UTC)And yet they've both gone several rounds with no one claiming them. Why are all my fandoms so underloved?

Date: 2012-01-18 04:35 am (UTC)I need to find someone with a threesome kink to fill that first request on the kink meme, tell you what.
Also, Val Kilmer has, as of now, inspired more fic than any other fandom/actor in the history of my short and obsessive life. This is big. I hadn't written since '08 before that Tombstone fic! (Which is why it was... mediocre and has been recently re-edited xD)

Date: 2012-01-18 04:39 am (UTC)I keep wanting to fill that prompt, but then I'm intimidated by the logistics of a gay threesome.
VAL KILMER IS A GREAT MAN. This is just more evidence. (I liked the Doc fic! Though I do like your newer stuff more.)
. . . also, my fandom counts at AO3 suggest that Val Kilmer is my muse, too. (See also: my graduate thesis. Oops. I think everyone at my school knows me as, "that girl who's writing her thesis on Val Kilmer.")

Date: 2012-01-18 05:02 am (UTC)HE IS. I mean, I've mentioned it before, but I'm an actor as well, and I cannot tell you how incredibly fucking inspiring he is. I could (and maybe will, at some point) rant for pages about the nuance and risk in the man's art.
Eh, I didn't HATE the Doc fics. I just, y'know. Hadn't written anything beyond term papers and the like in like, three years. Probably more like 2.5, but whatever. xD They were (and still are, despite the editing) rough and my grasp on the characters' voices was sort of meh.
Can I just say that the fact that you're writing your thesis on Val Kilmer makes me want to hug you and shake your hand solemnly all at the same time? Because that is genuinely awesome.

You should! I can only appreciate him as, you know, a person with eyes and a fully-functioning libido; I'd love to hear a professional's opinion.

Well, if you'd like another set of eyes on them, let me know.

I just hope the members of my thesis committee feel that way . . .
Actually, it's one of the best decisions I ever made; you have to spend so much fucking time working on this thing, so finding a topic you're legitimately interested in and want to spend time with is absolutely vital.

Date: 2012-01-18 05:13 am (UTC)I may have to take you up on that. Especially if I decide to venture into Tombstone land again. I can see now why there's so little fic out there for it- it's difficult to write when the conclusion is immutable.
That makes a ton of sense! Shit, I can't imagine trying to invest that much time and mental/emotional/physical energy on something I wasn't fully interested in.
