the end of an era

My faithful Malibu, who took me hundreds of miles from Knoxville to Savannah time and time again, who stranded me so many places across the American southeast, who was taxi for so many of my friends and a bed for that hobo one night (that I know of), that alabaster chariot in which Alexis learned to drive and where Tybee beach sand and oak tree leaves yet live--that noble voiture has gone to a better place, ferrying around an octogenarian church lady to the market and bible study. But let us not fret, dear friends, for some is lost, but else found. This is the Outback, our companion, I'm sure, for many adventures yet to come.
