RARE PAIR FEST 2017 LETTER

Hello,  rarepairfest author! I am delighted that AO3’s algorithm has brought us together. If you're here, it's because we have in common an appreciation for at least one seriously awesome rare ’ship. Thank you for your conservation efforts. With any luck, we can do for these underloved ’ships what was done for the California condor.

Let's get the necessary unpleasantness out of the way. Here are my DNWs:

      
• Unhappy endings, serious angst, naked animosity, etc.
      
• Anything even approaching rape or non-con.
      
• Anything about institutionalization, asylum, suicide, self-injury, or any other serious mental health issue.

Now the good stuff. Here's what I do like:

      
• Well-developed characters. Tiny details. I want characters figuring out a situation because it reminds them of something that happened in third grade; I want characters who have favorites and habits and pet peeves. I live for this stuff.
      
• Found family. Love and love and love. All those Greek kinds of love that are in a thousand Tumblr gif sets. Love without sex. Love with sex. Sex with laughter and sex with I love yousand sexual healing. I am not above that trope.

As for my individual requests:

Walter Crow Horse/Ray Levoi

Ughhhhh I love these boys with their snarky, flirty, I'm not going to say, “I love you,” but I will walk to my death with you so you don't have to walk alonewritten in the stars love. I love when they do badass crime solving together, but I equally love reading about their domestic adventures. Basically, you can do no wrong here. I do prefer post-film stories, and stories that aren't just, "what happened after Ray left the rez"; take me a little further into the future, when Ray's got his shit together and Crow Horse has successfully wooed him.

Oh God, this show. I love how it brings the humor while also drowning you in feels. Evie and Dylan and Luke’s little family unit is my favorite, and while I ship Evie/Dylan hard, I would also be interested in some polyamory. I would love to see them on their little adventures--I adore Luke's bucket list, if you need a prompt.--or even just watching Luke act out films, just as long as they are together and steeped in fondness.

Lucky Number Slevin (2006)
Lindsey/Slevin

I love this movie, and Lindsey and Slevin are among my all time favorite ships. I love how delighted they are just to be in each other's company. They make each other so happy, and on top of that there is so much trust; it's love at first sight. I would just love to see them adoring each other. Maybe they're trying to figure out their place in their new world. Maybe they're doing some spy game shit: Slevin is doing what he does, and Lindsey is wondering what that means for her, how she can help him in his work, if she even wants to. Or maybe they're having a vacation somewhere with white beaches and drinks with little umbrellas in them. It doesn't matter, as long as it's the two of them being, you know, the two of them.
